14 STATIONS OF HCMC’S METRO LINE NO.1 ARE COMPLETED

If nothing changes, by the end of this year, the people of Ho Chi Minh City will officially be able to use the city’s first urban railway line. At this moment, the appearance of the 14 stations of Metro Line 1 is nearly 100% complete.

Metro line No.1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) stretches nearly 20 km, from Ben Thanh station (District 1) to Long Binh depot (Thu Duc City) with 3 underground stations and 11 elevated stations.

Ben Thanh Central Station is the largest station in the city’s urban railway network, with 236m in length, 60m in width, and 32m in depth. In addition to serving passengers on Metro Line 1, the Ben Thanh Central Station also functions as a transfer hub, connecting to other metro lines and landmarks in the city center such as Ben Thanh Market, 23/9 Park via 6 access points.

City Theater Station is designed as an underground station, with 190m in length, 26m in width, and 30m in depth.

Rach Chiec Station is a type A station, with dimensions of 137.5m in length, 22m in width, and 19.45m in height.

Van Thanh Station is a type A station, with 137.5m in length, 22m in width, and 19.45m in height. This elevated station serves as a transition point to the underground section at the Ba Son Station.

An Phu Station is one of the 11 elevated stations on Metro Line 1. It is a type C station, with dimensions of 137.5m in length, 19.8m in width, and 20.5m in height.

Ba Son Station is one of the 3 underground stations on Metro Line 1. It is designed with a length of 240m, a width of 34.5m, and a depth of approximately 17m. The station consists of two floors: the first floor includes passenger facilities such as waiting hall, ticket vending machines, automatic fare gates, and passenger information assistance room; the second floor is the platform area where trains stop and passengers board and alight.

Tan Cang Station is 137.5m in length, 37.3m in width, and 25.8m in height, classified as a type B station. It is the largest station among the remaining 10 elevated stations, designed with 4 tracks and serving as the connection point between Metro Line 1 and future Metro Line 5. The most distinctive feature is its roof system covering an area of 6,200m2, which is designed using glass fiber reinforced plastic membranes from Japan, making it the largest of its kind in Vietnam at the present time.

Thao Dien Station is a type A station, with a length of 137.5m, a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m.

Binh Thai Station is also a type A station, with a length of 137.5m, a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m.

Phuoc Long Station is located at Phước Long Port, Trường Thọ Ward, Thu Duc City, with a length of 137.5m, a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m.

Thu Duc Station has a length of 137.5m, a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m (type A station).

The High-Tech Zone Station has a length of 137.5m, a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m, also being a type A station.

The National University Station connects to the campus of the universities affiliated with the National University of Ho Chi Minh City. The length of the National University Station is 137.5m, with a width of 22m, and a height of 19.45m (type A station).

The Suoi Tien Bus Station is the 14th station of Metro Line 1, directly connected to the New Eastern Bus Station, with a length of 137.5m, a width of 19m, and a height of 15.75m (type D station).

The Long Binh Depot, located in Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City, covers an area of approximately 27 hectares and includes facilities for maintenance, repair, train parking, and operation management for the urban railway project.

The first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City commenced in 2012 and has faced numerous delays due to various difficulties. As of now, the entire line has been completed by about 98%.

Testing of systems and test runs along the entire line are continuously being conducted day and night, along with personnel training to ensure smooth operation. It is expected that by the end of September, Metro Line 1 will complete its trial run. In October, relevant authorities will conduct inspections and safety assessments, after which the trains can officially begin serving the public.
